The Silicon Desert has had it’s share of successes. The Desert has also seen it’s share of failures. Far too often, and far too long, we’ve heard entrepreneurs in Arizona say “there isn’t enough money here.” We call B.S. The reality is there haven’t been enough great entrepreneurs, great ideas, or great companies. It’s not that there aren’t great ideas and great people, it’s that business is hard - and the volume of “attempts” in Arizona has been low compared to other high-tech areas.
It’s a chicken and the egg problem. We don’t think the solution is that more money needs to come in so we throw more companies into the mix. We think we need to focus on the relatively few amazing companies that are here. Capital is always available to great teams with great businesses.
